A tradesperson's homepage has one job: to let someone with a problem decide, in under a minute, that you can fix it, in their town, soon and at a fair price, and then call you. For an electrician, plumber or technician in Israel that means, in this order: your trade and area with one-tap calling and WhatsApp, the jobs you take, the towns you cover, your hours and emergency availability, your license, how you price, reviews and photos of real work. Below is each section, with what Google and ChatGPT read.

## The homepage sections, in order

From the top of the page down, as a customer sees it on a phone:

- Top line: your trade, your area and a call button. 'Licensed electrician in Holon and Bat Yam' says more than any slogan.
- Call and WhatsApp buttons that work with one tap on a phone and stay visible as people scroll.
- The jobs you take, in the words customers use: switchboard replacement, blocked drains, water heater repairs, air-conditioner installation.
- Service area: the towns and neighborhoods you cover, written as text.
- Hours and emergencies: when you answer, and whether you come at night, on Shabbat or on holidays. Only what is true.
- License and insurance, with the license type and number.
- How you price: a call-out fee, an hourly rate, or starting prices for common jobs.
- Reviews from real customers, with a link to your Google reviews.
- Photos of your own work, before and after where it helps.
- A short FAQ and a contact form for jobs that can wait.

## License: show what customers can check

In Israel, licenses for electrical work are issued under the Electricity Law of 1954 and the Electricity (Licenses) Regulations of 1985, through the Ministry of Labor's electricians licensing unit, which also runs a public query for finding license holders. Put your license type and number on the site. Customers can check it, and assistants do: when WIPE asked OpenAI's model for a recommended electrician in Holon, it also searched for the Ministry of Labor's register of electrical license holders and cited gov.il.

Air-conditioning work is being licensed too. A 2025 law regulating work on refrigeration and air-conditioning systems sets three license levels by system size, and the Ministry of Labor says it will publish how to apply close to the date licenses start being issued. If your trade is licensed, show the license; if it is not, show your training and your years of work.

## Service area and emergency hours

If you go to customers rather than receiving them, Google treats you as a service-area business, and names plumbers as an example. You can set up to 20 service areas by city or postal code, keep the whole area within about two hours' drive of your base, and should remove your address from your profile if customers do not come to it.

Write the same towns on your website, and say plainly when you work. When WIPE asked for an urgent plumber in Petah Tikva, the answer cited two plumbers' own websites for one thing: both say they answer around the clock, holidays included.

## Prices: say how you price

Many tradespeople cannot quote without seeing the job, and that is fine. Say how you price instead: whether there is a call-out fee, what an hour costs, and starting prices for the jobs you do most. A line like that gives customers a sense of scale before they call, and gives search engines and assistants something concrete to match when someone asks what a job costs.

In WIPE's check, price questions were answered from pages that list prices, mostly directories. A business that states its own prices gives an assistant one more page to quote.

## Calls, WhatsApp and quick quotes

Make every way to reach you work with one tap on a phone:

- Make the phone number a link that dials, not an image.
- Add a WhatsApp click-to-chat link: wa.me followed by your number in international format, with ?text= and a ready message, so customers can send a photo of the problem.
- Keep the form short: name, phone, town and what is wrong. Answer the same day.
- Show your hours next to the buttons, so a late call is the customer's choice, not a surprise.

## What Google and ChatGPT read

Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and prominence; a complete Business Profile helps, links and reviews add to prominence, and there is no way to pay for a better local ranking. Its AI features need nothing extra: a page must be indexed and eligible for a snippet, as in ordinary search.

On your site, mark yourself up with the most specific type. Schema.org lists Electrician, Plumber, HVACBusiness and Locksmith under HomeAndConstructionBusiness, and Google says a business that offers several services can list several types.

ChatGPT finds tradespeople through its own searches. Asked for an electrician in Holon and an urgent plumber in Petah Tikva, it searched directories by name and cited directory pages in both answers, along with gov.il; the only businesses' own sites it cited were the two plumbers'. Keep your name, phone and towns identical on your site, your Google profile and your WIPE Around page, and make sure your site lets OpenAI's search crawler, OAI-SearchBot, in.

## How WIPE fits

WIPE (app.iw.pe) builds a site for any small business from what it already has online, a Facebook page, a Google listing or an Instagram profile, in minutes: your services and prices, photos of your work, hours, a WhatsApp button with a ready message, and booking requests by your hours once you switch booking on. You edit it from your phone.

Building is free. Publishing at yourname.iw.pe is ₪99 a month, the launch price of a ₪198 plan, and if no customer came in your first week on the air, canceling within seven days of the first payment refunds it in full. It does not connect your own domain today, take payments, or send reminders automatically.

## Questions

**What sections should an electrician's website homepage have?**
In order: trade and area with a call button, the jobs you take, the towns you cover, hours and emergency availability, your license type and number, how you price, reviews, photos of your work, and a short contact form.

**Should a plumber put prices on the website?**
Yes, at least how you price: a call-out fee, an hourly rate or starting prices for common jobs. Customers ask what a job costs, and a page that says it gives them, and search engines, something concrete.

**Do I need to show my electrician license number?**
Show it. Electrical licenses are issued through the Ministry of Labor, which runs a public query of license holders, so customers can check you, and OpenAI's model searched that register when WIPE asked it for an electrician.

**How do I show the areas I serve without an address?**
On Google, set up to 20 service areas and remove your address if customers do not come to you. On your site, list the towns as text.

**Do I need a website if I am already listed in directories?**
A website adds what a listing usually lacks: your full services, prices, license, hours and photos in your own words, on a page Google can show for your trade and town.

**How do customers find a tradesperson through ChatGPT?**
ChatGPT runs its own web searches and cites the pages it finds. In WIPE's check those were mostly Israeli directories, plus a few business sites that stated plainly what was asked, such as round-the-clock availability.
